• American Communication Association.
  The American Communication Association is a national professional organization of scholars, students, and practitioners in the field of communication studies. This site provides information about the ACA, a collection of materials on communication law and First Amendment issues, resources for teaching and research in communication studies, and an extensive reference resource page for scholars and activists.

• The ERaM (Ethnicity, Racism and the Media) Programme.
  "The ERaM Programme has just been established at the University of Bradford, UK. It has opened two email mailing lists, the eram-list and eram-research-list, as forums for the discussion and dissemination of all information and research concerning any aspect of ethnicity, racism and the media. We discuss such issues as: the representation of ethnicity in the media; ethnic minority media production; and the recruitment and employment of ethnic minority persons in the media.

• Mediaweb.
  MediaWeb is a loose coalition of film/TV/video webmasters that seeks to foster collaboration and to minimize the redundancy of materials on film/TV/video sites. MediaWeb is open to all, but it is not really intended for the users of these sites. Rather, it aims to assist film/TV/video webmasters so that they might better coordinate their efforts.

  A peer-reviewed journal on the Internet, about the Internet. This scientific journal expands the frontiers of academic publishing by combining the traditional values of peer-reviewing and strict quality control with a new form of publishing on the World Wide Web.

Norway:

• Norsk Medietidsskrift (The Journal of Norwegian Media Research).
  
• Hyperfoto
  A journal of photography, media and image culture. The journal has a joint focus on images and words about images. Worth looking into for the images alone, but for those steeped in Norwegian, the writing is definitely interesting. Promises to feature articles in English soon.

Australia:

• MEDIA 3
  MEDIA3 is a media education resource guide for teachers, students and media professionals produced by 3rd year and post graduate students in Media Arts at Deakin University.

The Netherlands:

• Mediamatic
  "Mediamatic focuses on understanding what's going on with our culture rather than boring you with the latest corporate mergers or technological breakthroughs. It is a magazine for literate people. Each issue has a theme, such as Storage Mania, Home, or Religion. [...] Its raw material is the text of theory: analysis, polemics, experimental theory, speculations and sometimes pure fiction. Authors from Europe, Japan and North America examine the themes through the filter of Mediamatic's only assumption: New media are changing every facet of human endeavour more rapidly and more deeply than one can guess."

USA:

• American Journalism Review
  "A comprehensive guide to journalism resources on the World Wide Web, along with a guide to grants and fellowships available to journalists. There is also information about our new issue (including sample articles), ordering a subscription or back issues, and guidelines for submitting your work or a letter to the editor."
  
• Communication Issues in Interactive Technology
  As its editors say: "Perhaps the only thing not screaming along faster than a speeding electron out there in Cyberia is good solid scholarship and insightful dialogue regarding interactive technology. We propose CIIT as SCA's effort to help fill that gap."
  
• Computer Mediated Communication Magazine
  CMC Magazine is a publication reporting about people, events, technology, public policy, culture, practices, research, and applications of computer-mediated communication. CMC Magazine also publishes opinion and essays about issues related to computer-mediated communication.
  
• CTheory
  CTHEORY is an international, electronic review of books on theory, technology and culture. Sponsored by the Canadian Journal of Political and Social Theory, reviews are posted periodically of key books incontemporary discourse as well as theorisations of major "event-scenes"in the mediascape. Delivered from The English Server at Carnegie Mellon University, which has a notoriously slow link.
  
• Inquisitor Magazine
  Content: Various media, art, culture, and technology. Matter-of-fact and down-to-earth (so they say), INQUISITOR strives to look beyond the hype and trendiness of current "cyberculture".
  
• The Journal of Computer Mediated Communication
  JCMC is a joint project of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California and the Information Systems Division of the School of Business Administration, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
  
• Journal of Postmodern Culture
  An electronic journal of interdisciplinary criticism, published by North Carolina State University, Oxford University Press, and the University of Virginia's Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities.

• Penguin USA
  "The electronic library for every civilized person," they call themselves. They also quote Cato: "A room without books is as a body without a soul." Further, they invite you to "come get some soul food at the Penguin USA internet site, where you can get excerpts from the latest print, audio, and multimedia titles, browse several Penguin catalogs, and more."
  
• Project Gutenberg
  "The Project Gutenberg Philosophy is to make information, books and other materials available to the general public in forms a vast majority of the computers, programs and people can easily read, use, quote, and search." Project Gutenberg started in 1971, and has since been adding books that have entered into the public domain into the projects textual universe. In 2001, the electronic library is scheduled to include book number 10,000.

• Project McLuhan
  Project McLuhan is a joint enterprise of the Center For Media Sciences and the Marshall McLuhan Center For Global Communications, both non-profit groups with offices in Toronto, Canada. The aim of Project McLuhan is to update and revitalize the work of the late Dr. McLuhan; to continue to scrutinize the interface between technology and culture; to "project forward" using today's percepts; to analyze; to stimulate; to discuss; and to assist in the development of the science of media ("process") analysis.
